Managing Difficult People Issues

At PCL we know that often, the first time you need personnel advice is when you have a “live” problem.  Maybe one of the following is familiar

Managing Difficult People

  • An employee has been off sick for a long time.  What can you do?  You want to deal with the issue, but you’ve heard of the Disability Discrimination Act, and don’t want to end up in a tribunal.
  • You have an employee who is persistently absent with a stomach upset, or a sore throat.  You want to deal with the absence but don’t know how.
  • A member of staff is under-performing, and you don’t have an appropriate disciplinary process to follow.
  • You need to make staff redundant, are unsure of all the rules and want it to be as smooth a process as possible.
  • A member of staff has made a complaint about a colleague, or you.  You’re not sure how to handle the complaint.
  • You are selling off part of the business, or buying a new business. You’ve heard of TUPE, and that the transferred staff have rights, but you’re not clear what they are
  • You dismissed someone last month for gross misconduct and have just received an employment tribunal application
  • An employee resigns and you receive a solicitor’s letter alleging that you mistreated the employee.

We know that when you are dealing with issues like these, you need quick, practical guidance and advice.  Maybe you want letters or responses drafted for you, or you need to be guided through a process at each stage.

Whatever the level of support you require, we can help.
